My "workshops" are a chance for artists of all ages and levels of expertise to expand their skills to new levels of excellence.

These workshops are perfect for the person who has always wanted to try oil painting but is scared to death of failure. It doesn't matter how old you are or what skill level you've attained, you will benefit. Workshops are structured so that each student gets individual attention (I keep the class size limited).

If you are an advanced artist, don't hesitate to join a workshop. You will learn! If you are an art teacher looking for advanced training, please come. You will not be the first, and you will experience great benefits.

You can also talk to me about scheduling a consultation or a critique of one of your current projects.

To inquire about a workshop, or to set one up in your area, just click here and fill out the form. I will get back in touch with you right away.

Testimonials

At the time I met Bill Pattison, I was looking for a teacher that had the ability to capture realism and yet taught to the interest and skill level of the student. Bill was demonstrating both qualities when I first observed his class. He had accomplished international recognition in oil, for Americana style, and was also known for his ability to "paint with pencil."

I was captivated by his talent and especially his style of pencil paintings. I had enjoyed drawing since I was a small girl and loved trying to capture the real life of nature and human expression on paper. A #2 pencil and oils were my only background experience. But because I was raising four children and helping my husband in full time youth work, I had not had time to draw in years.

Having Bill as a teacher has been one of the most significant investments I have made in art. Learning the basics of how to use different kinds of pencils, how to sharpen pencils with a sanding board, how to make pencil strokes that bring the subject alive and how to render with patience were a few of the skills he showed me.

Bill Pattison also introduced me to the world of art exhibits and art organizations. Meeting other artists who enjoy the interaction of edeas and encouraging one another is so refeshing. Preparing a "show piece" specifically for an art show, was one of the most dramatic experiences I had. that process made an impact on my own confidence and presentation ability. Entering that picture, as an amateur, startled me as it received a 1st place, Best of Show, and most poplular vote. It also received a 1st place in the amateur portrait catagory, at the State Fair.

Since then I have entered other pieces inthe professional division of other art shows and won several awards. Even though time is at a premium, in this season of my life, Bill's coaching and encouragement have made a wonderful differene in my development as an artist. I am forever grateful for his time...as he ahs encouraged and critiqued me.

Artist Bill Pattison offers lessons which are applicable to both the professional artist as well as the amateur artist. My own experience stems from art lessons at the Toledo Museum of Art to my present experience with Bill. I have developed much faster and my work is much improved in my studies with Bill and I can highly recommend his teaching techniques.

I appreciate Bill Pattison because he taught me to really "see" what I am drawing or painting. The value charts and the contour drawings have proven to work.

I cannot put into words how much I appreciate your knowledge, understanding, and most of all, your patience...I was about ready to put my paints up until I joined this class, but now I want to learn it all. I feel that I have learned more in the six months that I have been in this class than the last 10 years of taking classes...

When I started in class with 23 others, most of us were less than beginners. Bill has showed me how to create a picture of enjoyment by knowing and understanding composition, value, light, time of day, shadows, and placement. He teaches how to see what your are looking at...

Dear Bill,

I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed your classes. As a novice I was uneasy about the first class. My apprehensions quickly disappeared shortly after the class began, due mostly to your warm, enthusiastic nature.

As time went on I evolved into a more serious student. we discussed my desires, strengths, and weaknesses. The outcome was that you specialized my training, namely drawing. These were demanding, but extremely valuable. They have become the cornerstone of my art.

The class I'm in with Bill Pattison ranges in age from 13 (junior high student) to myself, age 87. Though the ages of the members differ considerably, Mr. Pattison skillfully attends to the interests and ability levels of each student. He is an avowed optimist and makes learning to paint great fun. He has two great gifts:

1. He is an accomplished artist.
2. He can teach painting.

Any artist who can avail themselves of the services of Bill Pattison whould consider  themselves very fortunate.
